Introduction
Point load strength test is an indicator for rocks, which can determine the point load strength of the specimen and the anisotropy of the strength index, that is, the ratio of the maximum and minimum values of different point load strengths.
The point load tester adopts a portable and lightweight structure, with a precision guiding device on the upper part to ensure that the upper and lower pressure heads are not offset during the test. Using top-notch and fragmented loading, the pressure required for rock failure is lower than that of conventional presses; Moreover, the sample does not need to be processed into regular specimens, making it suitable for on-site testing and facilitating the determination of low strength rocks. The loading adopts hydraulic jacks, and the double pointer pressure gauge displays the test force value (the digital point load gauge uses precision pressure sensors and force measuring instruments to read), which can quickly determine the tensile and compressive strength of rocks. This is a simple scientific testing tool with the advantages of convenience, economy, and speed, which can be used for rock mechanics property testing in coal mines, geology, hydraulics, transportation, construction, and other engineering projects.
